Aftercare school Program

Lunga aged 12 stays with her grandmother and is in Grade 7. The Nonceba After School Program Facilitator noticed that Lunga did not have a proper school uniform and was really struggling academically. The facilitator started to assist with Lunga’s homework and a visit to her home was completed to assess the home environment.

It was discovered that the mother had abandoned the child and the mother’s whereabouts were unknown. The grandmother was then assisted to apply for re issue of the child’s birth certificate at Home Affairs and later applied successfully for the child support grant with Nonceba’s assistance.
