A child abuse awareness session was provided by Nonceba to children in Grade 1 at Lukani primary school. The Nonceba facilitator noticed a child who was very quiet in class as she was doing her presentation.
She spoke to the teacher who informed her that the child was a victim of rape and had never received any formal counselling. The school was advised to refer the parent to the Nonceba Centre so that the child would receive proper counselling.
A Khayelitsha mother of three was able to leave her abusive husband and start a career, thanks to help from the Nonceba Family Counselling Centre.
